Argonaut String Quartet returned to 2017 BIFEM with a dynamic programme to close the festival. Along with the first Australian performances of works by Anahita Abbasi and Clara Iannotta, the concert featured the BIFEM début of two local composers: Samuel Smith, a composer with an increasingly expanding profile, and Caterina Turnbull-Gould in her first major festival appearance. The string quartet remains an inexhaustible medium, and with these four amazing musicians, Argonaut String Quartet has proved itself once more to be an audience favourite. This powerful concert drew a charged weekend of music-making to a close, now available to re-listen and reflect.
