Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music and Capital Venues and Events proudly presented the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in their Victorian début at 2018 BIFEM. The ASO’s 40-player residency featured two stunning lyrical programmes at the Ulumbarra Theatre in Bendigo. These two concerts will showcased the skill and power of Australia’s most adventurous orchestra, who found themselves right at home in Australia’s most respected and exciting new music festival. The Friday night concert celebrated the remarkable and dynamic string ensemble writing of Taiwanese-Australian composer Annie Hui-Hsin Hsieh, a world premiere from BIFEM Founder David Chisholm, and the Australian premiere of Tranquil Abiding, the exquisitely atmospheric work by the late British composer Jonathan Harvey. USA conductor Eric Dudley returned to BIFEM in 2018 for his first collaboration with the ASO.
